Overview of the new IRS "Get Transcript" system (for all taxpayers)

The quick access overview:

· Visit (or search for ‘get transcript’ at

· Answer some interesting questions to allow verification of your identity

· Create a secure user profile

· Access your transcripts

· View, print, or create PDF (there’s also an option up front to have it mailed to you if you go down that path)

If you decide to forgo the link above and negotiate the site manually, here's a brief overview to get you to the right place.

These transcripts can be used for a variety of purposes, such as applying for a mortgage or a student loan or simply reviewing the wage and salary info the IRS has collected for you. Here's a list of the types of transcripts you will find.

Once your in, here’s what the menu looks like. If you have a specific purpose, it can point you in the right direction for the appropriate transcript.

And finally, if you're curious what you might find, here’s an example of an ‘account’ transcript.

Procedure to Check Continuing Education credited with the IRS...

This is really pretty simple...

  1. Log into your PTIN Account.
  2. Select "View My Continuing Education Credits".
  3. You're there.

If you find that there is something missing in your record, the best course of action is to contact the provider and ask them to investigate. If that's unsuccessful, the IRS does have a form 14360 to file a complaint.
